Welcome back!

This is another single tree that reminds me of The One Tree. I don’t know why, really, but there are a few types of landscapes that really, really strike my fancy. There’s the landscape that’s mirrored in a quiet lake or pond that I mentioned the other week and then there are scenes like […]

I was out this morning wandering around Mom’s property and simply HAD to get this shot. The incredibly clear sky, the path worn by four-wheelers from a few years ago, and the big, lonesome tree combined to remind me of a book by Stephen R. Donaldson titled The One Tree. The book is actually the […]

Don’t let fog stop you from shooting pictures outside. A nice heavy fog can make for some beautiful pictures. This one didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped it would. I looked out the window and saw the fog at the same time the fog saw me and started lifting. By the time […]

There are several things about this shot that appeal to me: the yucca plant in bloom, the almost-parallel lines in the grass, and the rich colors in the sky, particularly over the house.

POTD 9/15/08

I took this picture in March when my daughter took me up into the observatory in Hot Springs. I’ve posted a picture or two from that occasion before.
I hadn’t planned on posting this picture any place where the general public could see it because I took the picture through a window and there was a […]

No matter how many times I drive through the middle of Mountain Home, it always throws me for a loop to see a gorrila standing on the corner.
Yes, it’s made of stone and I’m sure he’s probably got something to do with the sign behind him with the gorilla face on it. It’s an interesting […]

This is another picture of Lake Norfork, just outside Mountain Home, Arkansas. The bridge is U.S. Highway 412. The trees were just in the right spot.

After a day when I’ve spent 10 or 11 hours driving to and from my daughter’s college (either picking her up or dropping her off), this is just about my favorite site on the planet. My house is just ahead on the right.
I wasn’t kidding when I said I lived in the middle of nowhere. […]

I was looking through my collection of photos and happened upon this shot of the convention center in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This is where my daughter’s high school commencement ceremony was held. I really like Hot Springs; it’s a shame I probably won’t be going back there now that my daughter isn’t attending school there.

I’m calling this picture “On The Road Again” because that’s where I was when I took it. I had just picked my daughter up from college for the 3-day weekend and while she was driving home I took this picture.
