Welcome back!

My granddaughter is turning out to be quite the music lover. At three months old, she already will sit nearly motionless for an hour while she’s completely enthralled by The Lawrence Welk Show.
In this photo, she’s sitting on her aunt’s lap watching a Disney music video that her aunt found on YouTube.
If this kid […]

I never thought I’d be posting a picture of naked ladies on this blog, but that’s exactly what these flowers are called. These are growing not too far from our house. I really would like to know how these flowers got their name. I can’t imagine it has anything to do with how they look.
Note:
Because […]

This horsefly was photographed with a combination of diopters totaling +7 (+1, +2. and +4). This little guy was on the support post of an old barn that isn’t used any more. For the record, I paid dearly for this shot… to the tune of about six tick bytes. I think it was worth it […]

I saw this guy on the outside of the kitchen window last night. I just had to grab my camera, attach my +10 close-up lens, and get this shot. The reddish tint is because of the sunset that Skinny, here, caused me to miss shooting.
There was a grasshopper on the side of the house that […]

The town of Fulton, Missouri is very proud of its geese. These guys are allowed to roam free all over the walking trail that goes around town. We were told, in fact, that if one of these geese wanders onto the road and someone hits it with their car, they get a fine.
It reminded me […]

I passed this church in Freeburg, Missouri on my way to Fulton. Freeburg is located about 10 miles outside of Rolla, Missouri. I had my daughter with me the first time we passed this church and both of us were like, “Oh, that needs a picture taken!” On the way home I stopped in a […]

There’s just something about a landscape reflected in still water that really appeals to me.

I have no idea what kind of plant this is. It was growing a few feet from the yellow daisy-looking flower I posted the other day. (In case you can’t tell, I’m not sure what THAT was either). It caught my eye because it looks almost web-like and also because of its color. I have […]

You’ll have to click the image to view the full-sized picture to fully appreciate this one.
When I look at that I can just imagine the conversation in that kid’s home:

Mom: Boy, where’d your shoes go to?
Boy: They’re outside.
Mom: Well go get ‘em!
Boy: I can’t reach ‘em.
Mom: Whatchu talkin bout, can’t reach em?
Boy: Well, see, Skyler […]

I really enjoy taking close-up pictures of stuff. It has a way of taking an object that most people wouldn’t think twice about and putting it right in your face.
My daughter and I arrived in Missouri last evening and our friends provided us with dinner and a place to spend the night. After dinner we […]
